The hair rat race

To save time and nerves I am constantly looking for easier and less time consuming ways to do my hair. As I was looking vintage hair inspiration by scrolling through some pics in Pinterest I came across this wonderful hair rat tutorial:

Another vintage enthusiast had solved my problem! She had bought an authentic 1940's hair rat, but it wasn´t as durable as one would´ve hoped for. That is why this vintage loving blogger, Eileen, did the tutorial by using modern equipments. And that is why this tutorial is more than suitable for my blog!

After seeing how good Eileens hair looked rolled up, I couldn´t get to the shops fast enough to buy a couple of bun rats myself! I followed the instructions precisely and here are the results:

Quick and easy!

  1. That is a really pretty hairdo! I used to be able to roll my hair like that, but now it doesn't work anymore... So maybe I'll use these instructions to make a hair rat. :--)

  2. Brilliant! I have rolled my hair like this before, with and without hair rats, and I find it pretty difficult to accomplish. I think the addition of a ribbon is just PERFECT! It will make the rolling so much easier, AND it's adorable! This is great!

    1. Thank you Anniina and Emileigh! The ribbon really helps to keep the rat in place. I have other plain rats that I attach with bobby pins and it's much more difficult.
